Home / News / News / Horizons on the Floor at Fuorisalone: Nesite meets the art of Franco Perrotti

Reorienting the gaze

In contemporary design, there are fundamental elements that we tend to take for granted. The floor is one of these: always present, almost never questioned. At Fuorisalone 2026, we will attempt to overturn this situation, drawing attention to where we normally do not look.

Within the exhibition From Object to Vision, the raised floor system becomes an active part of the installation. A stoneware frame defines the space, whilst at the centre a glass surface presents a horizontal canvas that introduces an unexpected element: art.

A surface that supports and displays.

A simple yet significant shift: it is not the viewer who stands before the artwork, but the artwork that places itself beneath the viewer’s footsteps. This seemingly minor shift creates a state of ambiguity, where use and contemplation overlap.

Fuorisalone 2026 thus marks the debut of Juno in Art, a system that integrates illuminated panels and art prints, transforming the floor into a veritable exhibition surface.

Art is situated outside conventional vertical frameworks: a shift that alters the way we perceive it — less distant, less ‘untouchable’, closer to everyday experience. Light emphasises the works and guides the gaze, whilst the floor takes on the role of an active surface, capable of accommodating visual languages and participating in the narrative of the space.

The installation is completed by the integration of greenery through the Floora system, which introduces a possible relationship between organic and artificial elements.

Dissuader: design for peace

Within From Object to Vision, the project expands into an ethical and political dimension. The exhibition, sponsored by the Nobel Peace Prize Secretariat, presents design as a practice capable of influencing the forms of coexistence.

Emblematic in this sense is Dissuader, a monumental installation taking the form of a pigeon, suspended above our heads like a modern sword of Damocles. Its steel nails trace a rigorous pattern evoking boundaries and interrupted trajectories.

It is a work that shakes us to the core, transforming our existence in the world into a vibrant collective responsibility. It is here that Nesite and Perrotti converge: in the idea that space is not a void to be trampled upon, but a body to be listened to and understood. Form is not merely structure, but blossoms into a new consciousness of living together.

Beyond the material: a new sensibility in design

Fuorisalone 2026 removes the Nesite raised floor from its technical-performance dimension to interpret it within a more noble discourse, involving perception, narrative and language.

This is an approach already explored on previous occasions, where the relationship between material and design has been the subject of experimentation, and which finds a new and more conscious expression within the context of Fuorisalone.

Through dialogue with artists, designers and curators, Nesite thus reinforces its commitment to fostering a design culture that goes beyond mere execution, opening up to a broader dimension in which innovation, language and experience coexist and feed off one another.
