Data centers represent the backbone of the contemporary digital world: complex technical spaces, often not very visible, yet of growing strategic importance. For this very reason, we believe that designing and building the environments that host them requires a conscious approach that goes beyond mere functionality.

During the round table, Fabio Di Marco — General Manager of Nesite — highlighted an issue that often remains in the background of the debate:

“We hear a lot about power, cooling, continuity, and connectivity. However, there is a part of the infrastructure that remains almost invisible but is actually fundamental: the physical platform on which the data center is built, managed, and transformed over time.”

Our raised access flooring solutions are developed precisely with this vision in mind. Not just a surface, but a true system architecture, whose development is based on three main pillars.

The first is modularity: the data center is no longer a static space, but an evolving environment — increasing density, rack relocation, equipment upgrades, and changes in system layouts.

The second pillar concerns the management of real loads: with the introduction of liquid cooling and the increasing weight of racks, it is no longer sufficient to rely on standard technical specifications.

“The real question is not how much load that floor can bear, but how it performs in real use, when it is actually in operation.”

The third pillar is circularity. Technical quality and environmental responsibility are not conflicting goals, but complementary dimensions. With over 60 years of experience in the sector — first as Hiross, now as Nesite — we are able to recover raised flooring systems, regenerate them, and reintroduce them into new life cycles, turning a technical material into a long-lasting resource.

Participation in events such as the Mediterranean Data Center represents for Nesite a moment of listening and exchange with the professionals who design, build, and manage these spaces every day. We firmly believe that the evolution of data centers depends on collaboration among all stakeholders in the supply chain.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to engage with us.
